How does Superannuation Warehouse perform SMSF Administration

We request Trustees to supply us with a soft copy of their SMSF bank statements and share trading account statements at the end of the financial year and we load the data into our accounting system and prepare their accounts and SMSF tax returns. It’s electronic, it’s paperless.

Where you invest and how you run your SMSF is entirely up to you. Superannuation Warehouse is here to take care of the set up and carry out all the annual administrative functions, (e.g. doing the accounts, calculating the tax, arranging for the audit and submitting a tax return for your SMSF) leaving the Trustees of the SMSF to focus investment options for their SMSF.

If you want to use other service providers, choose an Advanced Package ($89). Data in a consistent electronic format means we can offer a full administration service for a competitive monthly fee.

What is included

As part of the SMSF setup process, Superannuation Warehouse will apply for an Australian Business Number (ABN) and a Tax File Number (TFN). On an annual basis, we will prepare your financial statements, take care of your SMSF tax return, and arrange your SMSF audit. All these functions are covered by your fixed monthly fee.

Your annual SMSF audit is carried out by an auditor appointed and paid for on your behalf by Superannuation Warehouse. The audit fee is included in the monthly cost – no extra audit fee is charged. The cost to you is therefore a fixed monthly amount.

This is generally a good value proposition for most Trustees

SMSF Setup

If you have made the decision to set up an SMSF, Superannuation Warehouse can execute the SMSF (Self Managed Superannuation Funds) establishment. To instruct us to setup your SMSF, simply choose an option below, enter the captcha security code and click ‘send’. Once we receive your application, Superannuation Warehouse will contact you to confirm the details of your application.

A Trustee has the responsibility to ensure that their SMSF complies with ATO rules. Therefore, before you set up an SMSF, the ATO expects the same level of discipline from your personal tax affairs. If you have any personal tax returns or debt outstanding, the Tax Office will not issue an ABN or TFN required to set up the Fund. If you are associated with any outstanding tax return or debt, please do not proceed with this application
The standard SMSF setup at a cost of $350 is for Individual Trustees when we set up the SMSF. If the Member want a Corporate Trustee to be set up, we charge an additional $950 for the Proprietary Limited Company setup with ASIC. Most Funds are set up using Individual Trustees.

Superannuation Warehouse is a full service Self-managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) accounting firm. We set up SMSF’s and provide ongoing SMSF administration for Trustees who want to take control of their superannuation and invest it in property, shares or bank deposits.

Our SMSF setup and annual account, tax and audit services include:

Establishment of your SMSF including the Trust Deed
Arrangement of a TFN and an ABN to be issued to the Fund
Preparation of end of year accounts
Preparation and submission of the Fund’s tax return
An audit of the Fund – included in the fixed monthly or annual fee
We will set up your SMSF for a fixed fee. This is a full service function and includes a Trust Deed issued for your SMSF and an ABN issued for your Fund.

Self Managed Super Funds

In recent years there has been an explosion in the number of Self Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF) in this country. With more than $600 billion under management, SMSFs are now the largest and fastest growing segment of Australia’s $1.7 trillion superannuation industry. In fact, that figure has tripled in the last five years and as at September, 2013 there are about 517,000 SMSFs funds in Australia. That means there are over one million SMSF trustees in Australia which represents one in twenty four Australians. While SMSFs make up just 4 per cent of the total number of super funds, it controls 32 per cent of all investment funds in the superannuation system.
What is a SMSF?
A self managed superannuation fund is a do-it-yourself superannuation fund with between one and four members. Each member of the fund also acts as a trustee of the fund so all members must be the trustees, and all trustees must be the members. It is possible to have a ‘single member fund’ that requires two individual trustees or a corporate trustee.

Your SMSF must have its own bank account and a trust deed. The deed is basically the rules of operation and sets out who can be a member, how they’re admitted as a member, what the fund can invest in and who can receive a death benefit. Your own SMSF requires an annual audit plus they need to lodge a tax return with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

Establishing your own self managed superannuation fund is a very important financial decision but before you decide to go down this pathway you need to know the costs and understand your legal obligations. While managing your own SMSF can offer many benefits, they are subject to considerable compliance and regulation.
