About Overnewton Castle Wedding Receptions
William Taylor completed Overnewton Castle in 1849. Just west of Keilor township, the Scotsman purchased 13,000 acres of prime grazing property. Taylor constructed a one-story bluestone colonial dwelling. There were six rooms in total, each with enormous shuttered windows and extensive verandahs. The homestead was perched on a slight incline above Keilor, with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. During the 1850s, Keilor grew in importance as a popular stopover for people heading to the Victorian goldfields. Two new schools, a new bridge, and a new hotel were among the projects.
The grandeur of William Taylor's dreams did not become clear until he returned from a journey to Scotland in 1859. He began transforming the working colonial household into a tiny Scottish Baronial Castle. The Stately two-storyied wing was erected, as well as the blue stone Dairy & Butcher Shop and the Private Billiard Room, which is today utilised as a wedding chapel. Overnewton was designed in the Victorian Tudor style, which was influenced by architecture from the 16th century in England and Scotland. The rough textured masonary, deep pitched roofs, and overhanging battlement corner towers are all hallmarks of the Scottish baronial architecture. The influence of French architecture can be seen in the candle snuffer roofs. The estate's bluestone walls were mined on-site and finished with yellow gravel and stucco. The Taylor family crest - a mailed arm and fist enclosing a dagger and the motto "Semper Fidelis" (always faithful) – is carved above the huge windows of the main bedroom, and the carved initials of HT, T 1859, and WT are carved above numerous other windows.
The farmhouse had over 35 rooms after this addition was completed, including 7 bedrooms (the master bedroom had a tiny circle room and a dressing room), a schoolroom, library, drawing room, 2 kitchens, 5 servants rooms, and the Billiard room. Many original features remain, including tiles in the baths, a claw foot tub, and an ancient IXL wood burner in the kitchen. A bluestone butchery and dairy, lamp room, bootroom, coachhouse, stables, woolshed, shearing sheds, and machine shed are among the estate's outbuildings. William Taylor died in 1903 at the age of 85, and his wife Helen died six months later at the age of 71. Their eldest son, William Henry, managed the estate until his death in 1939 at the age of 81, and his wife, Beatrice, died in 1948. The Taylor family owned the estate until 1959.
In 1959, the Carr family bought Overnewton. They used part of the property as a family home and the lower rooms as a wedding reception centre while raising their three children there. Dr. L. J. Norton bought Overnewton Estate in 1975 with the intention of raising his family there. The property has undergone numerous modifications and changes since then, including the installation of mains water in 1976 and the fire that destroyed the old timber stables in 1980. Dr. Norton purchased 6 acres of land, which included a dry stone wall and some of the ancient outbuildings, from the original owners.
Overnewton has weathered the years well, and it looks much the same today as it did when it was first erected. It has undergone various alterations throughout the years, hidden among the old trees. Horses and carriages, gas lights, and servants are no longer in use, but the old world grace and charm, as well as the elegance, grandeur, and ambience of a bygone era, remain. The estate has been refurbished over the years, and a beautiful dining room has been built to the estate, making it a true hidden gem.

Celebrating Life's Special Occasions. The term "life celebration" refers to the act of commemorating life's events. Jilly Martino is the owner of Life Celebration. Little things about Jilly. Throughout my life, I have travelled and lived interstate and internationally, but I have always been drawn back to Ballarat, its tradition, lifestyle, and beautiful surroundings. My three amazing children, whom I adore, keep me grounded and educated about the world around me by providing endless laughs.
When I'm not working as a celebrant, I'm also the editor of The Courier's annual Bride magazine, which gives me a unique perspective on current trends and industry movers and shakers. Ballarat Wedding Industry Network is a committee of which I am a member, and our goal is to make Ballarat THE regional wedding destination. I'm also a member of Victoria's Association of Civil Marriage Celebrants. The months you spend preparing your wedding should be full with anticipation and excitement for the most magnificent day of your life. This is where Nudo enters the picture. We're a dynamic team of planners and designers (as well as a shoulder to cry on) who will expertly guide you through every step of your wedding planning process. After my friends and family became tired of paying too much for substandard service, I decided to establish my own business as a Mobile DJ. They wanted a nice deal where they could get a great party for a good price with little to no hassle. SJH Entertainment and Events was founded in 2010, and I began catering to all types of parties across Ballarat. We swiftly expanded from a modest operation operating out of the trunk of my car to a thriving operation with many employees, several vehicles, even more trailers, and a big inventory of equipment. SJH Entertainment and Events has established itself as Ballarat's leading Professional DJ and Photo Booth supplier, from humble beginnings in lounge rooms in the 18th century to the exhibition halls and top-end wedding venues we perform in today. Thanks to the creative imagination of my Fiancee, Caitlyn, we expanded our selection of Photo Booths to include a Mosaic Wall in early 2020, as well as increasing the hire element of our business to include Flower Walls, Greenery Walls, Cool Rooms, and Flower Arrangements.

The Tools We Use
SJH Entertainment and Events uses top-of-the-line, professional sound and lighting equipment to make your event a hit! Our setup is completely portable, and we take care of all the details so you don't have to worry about anything on the big day. Your function will be a big success with high grade RCF Speakers and JBL Subwoofers, Denon mixing desks, industry standard computer controlled lighting, logo-projecting lasers, and crystal clear Samsung televisions. Our strong sound system, which can accommodate events of any size, will have your guests dancing all night. When they walk into the room and see magnificent colours lighting up the room and guiding them to the dancing, they will be blown away. We can accommodate any type of event, and our setup can be as basic or as elaborate as you desire. We charge a normal, very reasonable fee, and we take great care in selecting equipment for your event to ensure that it suits your needs and is unique to you! Our top-of-the-line slushy machines have proven to be a tremendous hit. When you hire our slushy machines, your function will be a tremendous success! Rent A Television And A Projector
Slideshows, films, and presentations are a breeze with our brand new Samsung High Definition LED Televisions! They're mounted on a stand with wheels so they can be easily relocated as needed, and they've already proven to be a popular choice among our clients as a fun way to interact with guests at events. We also have a High Definition Acer Projector as an alternative to the televisions mentioned above, while the purpose of both the TVs and the Projector is essentially the same!
Specifications of the Function
We often setup for a function in the early afternoon (for a night-time function), so everything is ready to go nice and early! After a function, it takes us roughly 60 minutes to pack everything up. This time is not included in your booking, and you will not be charged for setup or packup time. Our regular fee is really reasonable, and it includes everything from speakers and lighting to smoke and laser effects. For half the quantity of equipment, other companies may charge hundreds more! The only additional fees you might face from us are if your venue is located outside of Ballarat, such as Warrnambool! Even so, it is usually less expensive to hire us than to engage a local firm, and we guarantee you will have a much more fun night!
Don't be taken advantage of by those that charge hidden fees and fail to deliver on their claims. You could be charged extra for something as simple as a microphone and microphone stand, or you could be slammed with a separate payment if your event runs over schedule. SJH Entertainment & Events' prices include equipment that others may charge extra for, such as smoke, lasers, special effects, and wireless mics, which others may charge extra for. Sovereign Hill is a living museum depicting Ballarat's history as a goldrush boomtown. In 1851, gold was discovered here, resulting in the world's largest alluvial gold rush. Ballarat evolved quickly from a tranquil pastoral town to a splendid provincial metropolis built on the wealth generated by its gold. Sovereign Hill's Outdoor Museum, which spans 15 hectares of a former gold mining site, recreates the gold rushes through a live hamlet complete with diggings, underground mines, costumed people, coach rides, and 1850s businesses, trades, schools, and houses.
AURA, an evening sound-and-light show depicting the history and significance of gold in our region, complements the Outdoor Museum experience. Sovereign Hill first opened its doors on November 29, 1970. About Banyandah Homstead Wedding Reception
Our trek to Banyandah Homestead took several decades to complete. Our family has always resided in this wonderful corner of the world, and we raised our children on the adjacent farm for a long period. Driving the paddock blast to catch the school bus, early mornings spent feeding calves, countless days spent cleaning up the forest floor, large open landscapes, and lake fishing were all part of our upbringing and lifestyle.
We moved away from the area as our children grew older to explore other opportunities, but our hearts yearned to return to the place where we genuinely felt at home and to complete our dream. Except for cattle grazing and sleeping on the fertile meadow, the farming land where Banyandah lies has largely remained unchanged throughout the years. We were aware that the land was privately owned, and we made numerous attempts to acquire it before a chance arrived just as we were about to give up.
It was the best decision we've ever made, and it's turned into our own little slice of heaven. We've worked really hard to transform this lovely property into the incredible venue we knew it could be, and we're thrilled to be able to share it with some very special people on their most important day. The farm is called 'Banyandah' Homstead after the aboriginal phrase for 'house on the lake.' On the water, we have a lovely home. We are overjoyed that our vision is finally coming to fruition. We build experiences and lifelong memories at Cave Hill Creek, whether it's the joy of school camp, the thrill of walking the Beeripmo Track, or the treasured location where you got married! We are well-known and well-respected for our innovative, high-quality, and enjoyable activities, as well as our real warmth and beautiful natural surroundings. We won Gold at the Australian Tourism Awards in 2018. Ian and Julie Chandler established Cave Hill Creek in 1988. Cave Hill Creek was then just a sheep pasture with around 25 mature trees, no lake, buildings, or lovely gardens. On this magnificent tract of property at the top of the Raglan Valley, a farmer and a teacher spotted an extraordinary chance to develop a spectacular lake, group accommodation, and function venue.
Cave Hill Creek evolved steadily with a passion for hospitality, hard labour, and a keen eye for the environment, much like their young family. Tim and Angela Chandler, second-generation owners, now run Cave Hill Creek. It's a year-round organisation that hosts over 10,000 people each year during camps, walks, and weddings. About Eurambeen Historic Homestead & Gardens Wedding Venue
Theodore and Agnes commissioned Edna Walling to design their garden in 1937 after the homestead was extended in the late 1920s. The Edna Walling Gardens at Eurambeen are stunning, with their distinctive stone walls, garden rooms, and perennial flora. The gardens, which were initially designed for families, are now available for groups to visit. The Eurambeen Gardens are available to the public every two years and can be rented for weddings and other occasions.
The Eurambeen homestead, located nine kilometres west of Beaufort, is a historically significant structure. It was founded in 1862 by Irish potato farmers George and Francis Beggs, who built it out of locally quarried stone and Oregon hardwood. The slate for the roof came all the way from England. Major Thomas Mitchell, surveyor-general of New South Wales, and his party became the first European explorers to go through this region in 1836 while on an expedition to chart tributaries along the Murray River. Squatters took over large areas of grazing land for agricultural purposes, bringing thousands of livestock with them, and European colonisation of the region began in the 1840s. Mt Cole Station, which was owned by brothers Alexander and Colin Campbell from 1840 to 1850, was known as Eurambeen. Each of these landowners constructed homes and used their land mostly for grazing.
